About the Foundation

The Edmond Amateis Foundation was created on November 18, 1980. The Foundation is to exist perpetually and the Trustee is instructed to use the income of the foundation estate for educational purposes, awards of scholarships or for other public benevolent purpose of a scientific and literary nature, giving primary consideration to the needs and programs of the Cooper Memorial Library for purposes consistent with the customary and usual mission of a public library.


Funding Priorities:

  • Educational purposes and awards of scholarships
  • Public benevolent purposes of a scientific and literary nature
  • Primary consideration shall be given to the needs and programs of the Cooper Memorial Library.

Geographic Focus:
Foundation gifts may be made only for use within the United States and are generally restricted to the State of Florida.

  • Project Support
  • Scholarships
  • Program Support

No grants will be made to organizations that participate in political campaigns on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office.

Eligibility Requirements:

Qualified organizations are those which are organized and operated exclusively for charitable, scientific, literary and educational purposes and exempt from taxation under the Internal Revenue Code Sections 501(c)(3). If you are a 509(a)(3) Supporting Organization, please be prepared to provide additional information.

Grant Cycle and Deadline Information:
The Trustees meet annually in June to review proposals. May 1st is the deadline for submitting a proposal.

Grant Cycle and Deadline Information:
Average grant size is $1,000 – $20,000.
