To support the Advocate Counselor/College Advisor position for the College Bound Initiative at the Brooklyn High School for Leadership and Community Service (BHSLCS), a transfer school which serves 210 over-age and under-credited students, ages 16 to 21. BHSLCS is a joint venture between the New York City Department of Education and Brooklyn Community Services, one of Brooklyn’s largest social services agencies. The College Bound Initiative is a college prep program, attended by up to 70 students who are considered “in range” of graduating. The Counselor will provide individualized and group work, help students identify a “best fit” college, and support them in the entire college application process. The Counselor will also provide ongoing advocacy counseling to students participating in the college prep program.
