For continued support of their Safe and Sound Project, an initiative designed to provide early detection and evidence-based intervention to those children who are at-risk of abuse and neglect. The program will serve an expected 174 center-based children and their parents at their childcare centers in Corona, Woodside, and Flushing, Queens, all of whom will be receiving these services for the first time. Activities will include screening to identify risk, evidence-based parenting classes, parent-child interaction groups, a mothers’ support group and domestic violence training for their staff. The ultimate goal is that Safe and Sound will contribute to ending the intergenerational cycle of abuse in these families.
