To launch the Stop Summer Slide initiative in New York City to build the capacity of their partner schools and families to reduce summer learning loss. The CFY — NYC project team will provide comprehensive support to reduce summer learning loss for 6th and 7th grade students by having them practice skills from the previous school year and acquire new skills for the upcoming school year. The project goals are: to develop a clear set of strategies to support families, teachers, and students to infuse digital learning and leverage family involvement through the summer months that increase student learning and engagement; and to develop a comprehensive Stop Summer Slide curriculum on their PowerMyLearning free K-12 learning platform as an accessible vehicle for curriculum that students can use to stay engaged and continue learning during the summer. CFY’s Digital Learning Program fills a critical community need by providing digital learning tools, training and resources to low income middle school students, their families and teachers.
