To provide support for a new Middle School Principal who will focus on aligning curriculum across all three middle school grades, hiring new staff, enhancing middle school culture, creating a more robust after-school and summer program for middle school students, and creating programming to support middle school students during the NYC high school selection process. Dream’s educational program is based on four foundations: an innovative curriculum emphasizing critical thinking and questioning; an extended-day and extended-year model to maximize instructional hours; a co-teaching model that integrates their many special needs students into the general population; and active family engagement as a cornerstone of the school’s overall culture and philosophy. DREAM Charter School, founded in 2008 by Harlem RBI and located in East Harlem, currently serves 344 students in grades K-6 and will grow one grade each year until it reaches capacity with grades K-8 and a total of 450 students.
