To support the College Placement and Retention Coordinator at the Mott Haven Community High School, a new transfer school that opened in September 2012 serving 150 over-age and under-credited students between the ages of 16 and 21. These students have multiple needs for educational and youth development supports requiring individualized, intensive services to help them complete their educations. The Coordinator will work closely with graduating students to help them complete the college search and application process, apply for financial aid, explore potential careers and transition to college or post-secondary education. The Coordinator will stay in continuous contact with the students throughout the high school/college transition, helping to navigate/troubleshoot the intricate path and keep them on track. Once they complete their first year of college on time, students will have stabilized their education paths and developed the skills to navigate more independently.
