To support a new initiative, the GOSO Navigating Probation Project, which will recruit and provide comprehensive support services to 16-24 year-old men from the five boroughs of NYC who have been sentenced to probation. The program will include mandated participation in a seminar series, scheduled conference calls with probation officers, ongoing support groups, and interventions to encourage program retention and address performance issues in a timely manner. The goal is to reduce probation violations and prevent incarceration and/or recidivism in that population. GOSO is a re-entry program founded to reduce the recidivism rate for court-involved men 16 to 24 years of age by ensuring economic independence through purposeful education and directed employment.
