To support staffing of the Young Adult Program, an emerging model to meet the comprehensive needs of 18-24 year olds living in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The overarching goal of the program is to help members complete their education and secure and maintain employment, so that they can break the cycle of poverty and go on to live self-determined lives. In addition to GED classes, a LGBT support group, and individual counseling, the program provides formal work-readiness training and on-going support for college students through the College Scholars Program. They have created a program that is structured yet flexible, and which will offer 120 young people a menu of services/programs in which they can participate, based on their individual needs, schedules and goals.
