To support Eagle S.O.A.R. (Supplemental Opportunities for Academic Readiness), a new initiative to target the most academically at-risk students at two Eagle Academies in the Bronx and Brooklyn. EAF will provide specific targeted academic support to a cohort of 60 low-performing students with intensive, individualized reading instruction beyond the traditional school day. Their goal is to provide this cohort with an additional 11 hours per week of reading instruction for 8 months, during extended school hours (3-5 pm) and alternating Saturdays (8-11am). Funding will support specialist personnel costs, as well as program oversight and evaluation. The mission of the Eagle Academy Foundation is to develop and support a network of grades 6 through 12 college-preparatory schools with an all-male population in challenged urban communities.
