Gerbode Foundation to
Restructure After 40 Years
A trailblazer, The Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation supported reproductive freedom, conservation of the Hawaiian islands and the San Francisco Bay, the Death with Dignity movement, civic engagement, nonprofit leadership and the arts.
Since the 1970’s, the Foundation has been interested in programs and projects offering the potential for significant impact.
The primary geographical focus is on the San Francisco Bay Area (counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo) and Hawaii.
Located in San Francisco, the Foundation’s interests generally fall under the categories of arts and culture, environment, reproductive rights and health, citizen participation, inclusiveness, strength of the philanthropic process and the nonprofit sector, and Foundation-initiated special projects. The Foundation supports projects and programs that focus on public policy and advocacy efforts.
