As of November 1, 2015, the Foundation is no longer accepting letters of inquiry. We are currently undergoing an internal process and we will update the website with additional information as we move forward with our planning process.

Since the 1970’s, The Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation has been interested in programs and projects offering the potential for significant impact.

The primary geographical focus is on the San Francisco Bay Area (counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo) and Hawaii.

Located in San Francisco, the Foundation’s interests generally fall under the categories of arts and culture, environment, reproductive rights and health, citizen participation, inclusiveness, strength of the philanthropic process and the nonprofit sector, and Foundation-initiated special projects. The Foundation supports projects and programs that focus on public policy and advocacy efforts.
