The Dan Murphy Foundation was established in 1957 by Bernardine Murphy Donohue to carry on the philanthropic legacy of her father, Dan Murphy.

As a young businessman, Dan Murphy was concerned about, and sensitive to, the needs of others. Mr. Murphy devoted much of his time and fortune to supporting religious, educational, charitable and scientific institutions in Southern California.

In accordance with the focus of Dan and Bernadine’s charitable works, the foundation’s vision today is a thriving Catholic community in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

Our Mission Statement

“The Dan Murphy Foundation is dedicated to meeting the needs of Catholic high schools serving inner city youth and supporting the faith formation and religious life of a vibrant Catholic community in the Los Angeles Archdiocese.”
